Summer Message

Dear Neighbors,

Looks like the rain has stopped, finally, and the heat is on!  Now that the ground is dry, it is a good time to check your sidewalks to sweep any silt that may have run off from the rainwater. We had the center circle cement pads power washed last week.  First time in 20+ years!  I want to thank Fred and Sara Spratlin for allowing our contractor to use their water to do this.

We also need to thank Leigh Alvarez and Cindy Trammel, who have volunteered to take over the entry decorations.  They put out the flags for Memorial Day and will be doing it on Sunday for the 4thof July.  Contact them if you want to help.

One of our neighbors had a water leak caused by their air conditioner condensation lines backing up.  These will fill up with slime and gunk and must be cleaned periodically.  My plumber recommends using White Vinegar and/or Zep Drain Defense.  Just pour a cup of the liquids down the drain tubes every 2 months in season, when your A/C is being used a lot.  There are also drain pipes that empty into your bathroom sink’s plumbing that may need to be cleaned out once in a while (a messy job).     [See photos below]

With the summer heat we are getting a lot of “Heat Advisory” notifications.  Stay cool and hydrated as much as you can.  Many folks will be taking vacations, so be sure to let your neighbors know when you are travelling so they can keep an eye on your house for you.  You can also ask for a free police check of your property while you are gone by signing up on line for the service.
Stay cool!
Jim Stettler

What the plumbing lines look like under your bathroom sink from A/C drain.  Should be able to undo the pipes by hand or may require a wrench if too tight.  Fairly easy to take apart and replace, but inside can be very messy.  May have an indication of blockage if your sink drains slowly or you hear a lot of gurgling.

What the drain tubes should look like where you can add the chemicals.  Some may only have a single tube.
