Laurels News

Dear Neighbors,
I was finally able to get through to the Town of Collierville about our main streets being paved.  They assured me we are on the list and it should be approved in the next few months by the Town Alderman.  Once the contracts are let, they said they will let me know with a better estimate of actually when the paving will be done.  It could be Spring or Fall, but it should get done!
Our storage shed (now known as the "We Shed”, not a he-shed or a she-shed), is coming along nicely and should be finished by this week.  We have to get it inspected by Collierville before we can load it up.  I want to thank all the helpers who have contributed to this project:  Keith Wood, Bert Simms, Robert Crosier, Jim Lewallen, Sonny Greene and Frank Baker.  A real thanks go to a friend of Keith’s, Tom, who doesn’t live in The Laurels, but who had all the right tools and knowledge to help bring us along the right path
There are reports from Germantown that car break-ins are increasing.  It is only a matter of time before they head our way.  Please do not leave any valuables in your car and be sure it is locked if it is parked on the street or driveway.  There are also carjackings at gas stations still happening.

The women especially need to be cautious about filling up the car while your purse is lying on the seat or floor.  All the carjacker needs to do is hop in and start it up to drive away, with your wallet and personal information, in addition to your vehicle.  So be careful and keep an eye out for individuals approaching your car while you are fueling.

Please check your sidewalks for silt and dirt deposits.  With all the rain we have had, it is easy to have some collect and it gets very slippery when wet again.  We have had too many folks falling in the neighborhood and we don’t need any more.
Here is our We Shed under construction.  Should have made it a little larger.
Jim Stettler
