Neighborhood Update

Dear Neighbors,

I heard from an Alderman on the Collierville Board about the repaving of our streets.

Good News:  We are on the list to be paved for this fiscal year.

Bad News:  We are on the list as an “alternate”.  So we may not get it done this fiscal year if they run out of money due to a hard winter and they have to patch a lot of other neighborhood streets.

Good News:  We will be placed as a high priority on the list for the next year, 26-27.

Bad News:  We may have to wait another year to get our main streets repaved.

Apparently, the Town thinks our streets are bad, but not bad enough that they need immediate attention.  We all agree that they are looking bad, but at least they are still drivable for our use.

The Social Committee is planning on having our Fall Fest on Sunday evening, Oct 26.  Plan on attending if you can.  Details will follow.

Please look at your sidewalk pathways and be sure your shrubs or trees are not blocking passage of anyone walking along there.  Please trim or prune them back to allow easy travel for our walkers.  And look for silt buildup that can get real slippery when it is wet.  Leave pickup by the Town will begin early November and should be the same day as our regular pickup (Mondays) but may get delayed if they get backed up.

I must admit, I have not been swamped with folks willing to step up to be President of the HOA for next term.  While I don’t mind running again, I think it is important we have other people with other ideas to have input into our neighborhood’s operation.  Fresh ideas are important to keeping our Laurels such an ideal development.

Thank you and enjoy our Fall weather, now that it is here.
